Air purification equipment, also known as air freshener, refers to the products that can filter or kill air pollutants and effectively improve air cleanliness. At present, domestic and commercial air purification equipment that can remove indoor air pollution are mainly used. Air purification equipment can filter air particles, bacteria, viruses, fungal spores, pollen, asbestos, radon decay products and other pollutants.
In the current field of air purification, PM2.5 sensor has almost become the standard component of air purification equipment. Its function is to monitor the concentration of PM2.5 and other particles in the air. Its working principle is as follows: a constant light source (such as infrared light-emitting diode) is set inside the sensor. When the air passes through the light, the particles in it will scatter it, causing the attenuation of light intensity. The relative attenuation rate is proportional to the concentration of particles.
The other side opposite to the light source is equipped with a light detector (such as phototransistor), which can detect the light reflected by the particles, and output a PWM signal (pulse width modulation signal) according to the reflected light intensity, so as to determine the concentration of particles. For particles of different sizes (such as PM10 and PM2.5), they can output multiple different signals to distinguish. In the seemingly simple work process, there are actually scattering, reflection, attenuation of light intensity and complex algorithms. The sensor work is indispensable for us to see the air quality index directly on the sensor or in different colors or in digital form. At present, the mainstream sensors in the market are divided into two types: infrared particle sensor and laser particle sensor. In terms of working principle, the difference between them is not too big; but in terms of structure, they are quite different. Although it is the same mainstream product, the structure difference between infrared sensor and laser dust sensor is quite large. The internal structure and circuit design of the infrared sensor are simple, while the laser sensor is more complex.
In the process of sensor operation, one of the necessary conditions is that the flowing air passes through the cross area between the light source and the receiver. In order to drive the air flow, the infrared sensor uses the resistance heating method, uses the hot air to drive the surrounding gas flow; the laser sensor is equipped with a fixed fan inside. In terms of signal output, the phototransistor inside the infrared sensor can only output the pulse width modulation signal (PWM signal), which can not directly display the concentration of particles in the air, and it needs further calculation to get the range of particle concentration; the photoelectric effect of the photodetector inside the laser sensor will generate the current signal, which can be obtained after the circuit amplification The concentration value of particles, and the signal is generally output through serial port.
This also explains why some purifiers can only indicate air quality through different color lights, while other purification products can display specific air quality indexes in digital form. In addition, the infrared sensor uses resistance heating method to drive the air flow, the sampling number of particles is less, and the test accuracy is slightly insufficient; while the laser sensor uses fan drive, the data collection volume is large enough to ensure the accuracy of the data to a certain extent.
